Smart thermostat
What changes

A thermostat that holds a conversation.

A conventional stat is a light switch with extra steps: on, or off. A communicating control talks to the equipment continuously and tunes itself to the weather and your schedule.

Schedules that actually hold Humidity control, not just temperature Remote access from your phone Filter and maintenance reminders Staging and variable speed Zoning, room by room Alerts before a failure Runtime and efficiency history
Installed properly

Most “smart stat” problems are wiring.

A smart thermostat needs constant power, and older San Antonio homes frequently have no C-wire at the stat. Pulled off a shelf and mounted by a handyman, it browns out and drops offline. Done right, it stays up.

Power done rightA real C-wire pulled where one is missing — not an adapter kludge that half-works until August.

Frequently asked

Thermostat questions, answered straight.

More of them, with numbers, on the questions page →

Will a smart thermostat work with my system?

Almost always — but the details matter with heat pumps, dual-fuel and zoning. We check compatibility before we sell you anything.

What is a C-wire and do I need one?

It is the common wire that gives the thermostat continuous power. Many older homes do not have one at the stat, and it is the number one reason a smart thermostat behaves badly.

Can I set different temperatures in different rooms?

With zoning, yes — dampers and a zone board split the house into areas with their own setpoints. It is the real fix for a two-storey house that never balances.

Do you install the one I already bought?

Yes. We will also tell you honestly if it is a poor match for your equipment before we mount it.

Which one do you actually recommend?

For a communicating Trane system, the XL824-class control — you can try one on our interactive model. For everything else, we match the control to the equipment rather than the marketing.
