Straight Answers

HVAC questions, answered honest.

Why is my AC running but not cooling?

Usually it's restricted airflow, a dirty filter, low refrigerant, a frozen coil, a clogged drain line, dirty outdoor coils, or a failing part. If the air from your vents is weak or warm, have it inspected before the problem gets worse.

How cold should my AC blow?

A healthy system should cool your home about 15–20° below the outdoor temperature. In San Antonio heat it may run longer in peak afternoons, but it should still produce cold air, pull humidity, and keep you comfortable.

What's the 3-minute rule for AC?

Wait a few minutes before turning the AC back on after shutting it off. It gives the compressor time to reset and prevents short-cycling, which stresses the system. Most modern thermostats build in this delay.

What's the most common furnace problem?

Restricted airflow — usually from a dirty filter. When airflow is blocked the furnace works harder, leading to uneven heat, short-cycling, overheating, or shutdowns. Regular filter changes and maintenance prevent most issues.

What's the most expensive furnace repair?

Major components like the heat exchanger, blower motor, control board, or gas valve. The heat exchanger matters most for both performance and safety. On a major failure, we'll help you decide honestly whether repair or replacement makes more sense.

Do you offer 24/7 emergency service?

Yes — holidays, weekends, middle of the night. If the weather doesn't wait, neither do we. Call (210) 495-7771 any time.
